Taking inspiration from Chinese celadon ceramics from the Song Dynasty, Li wanted to explore the becoming of the Crackle Glaze / 冰裂纹 and how the pattern historically emerged from being considered defective accidents to being perceived as one the most appreciated aesthetics that kilns sought to master. The crackles showcase a motif of abstraction that is highly controlled yet extremely organic. Foil was adopted as a choice of medium by the Artist to convey the reflectivity of the glaze.
